Efforts this month have centred on the wiring installation with the completion of the battery tray mount assembly, the mounting of the main flight and ground relays and a significant amount of cable. The wiring diagram is being updated as the work continues and will encompass all the modifications that have been embodied upgrading the system to 24V and atypical ground power connections.

Work continues on the cockpit equipment with the generator fail light bracket and mounting tab riveted in place on frame #10 along with the refurbished cover. The mounts for the radio controller unit have also been riveted to the L/H cockpit coaming and the controller mount plate refurbished. The fuselage radio access panel has been riveted in place and the door stay and stowage clip also secured to the door. The spare lamps for the reflector gunsight and lamp holders have be refurbished and the ident placard has been fitted to the holder bracket.

A new cover panel for the cockpit fuse box has been scratch built and fitted to the L/H side wall. The cockpit flood lights have been wired and secured in their respective mounts and we now await some replacement lenses. The location of the wing radiator flap has been finally determined and the ratchet assembly bolted in place. The permanent assembly of the control column and aileron cable drum and tube structure has started.

We have fabricated new elevator trim stops to increase the tab travel to the specified limits and the associated pulleys have been finally fitted into the fuse. The economiser and its mounts have been refurbished and installed. New battery cable outlet guides for the fuselage wall have been fabricated and readied for installation over the main cables. A new upward fuselage ident light lens has been fabricated from an original pattern and the penetration in the fuselage made to mount it through.

The oil cooler assembly has been completed this month with the two coolers mounted into the new support frame and the frame mounted into the left wing. New mount attach brackets have been positioned and drilled off on the ribs and bolted in place. Two new adaptor fittings have been machined to adapt the thermostats to the pipe work and the pipes trial fitted. The thermostats have been and adjusted to open at the correct temperature and then sealed in place on the coolers. The coolers and rack assy have been painted.

Both sides exhaust stacks have been trimmed to the correct angle and new stubs made as required. All the sections have been aligned and tack welded in place on the jigging fixture and have been sent to the specialist welder to be completed.

The flap and brake pneumatic lines in both wings have been fabricated and installed in the wings. The right inner flap has been dismantled and re-assembled with a new skin and one new rib to the correct contour.

The rudder fabric work has been completed thru to the first coat of dope.

Work has continued on the wing to fuselage fairings with the three major upper sections and the support structure for those nearing completion. The lower right ammo access panel was completed following the arrival of the correct door hinge material.
