Here is the October 2008 report on our work on the Mosquito.

1. There have been quite a few items supplied from the machine shop this month. Main jacking bolt, landing gear frame bolts and fuel tank strap turnbuckles for example. Work has also continued on the overhaul of the components from off the engine bearers. These fittings have been inspected and repaired as necessary and following re-plating have been painted ready for installation.

2. Good progress again on the radiator support structure. The root end wooden rib assembly has been completed with the various wooden brace pieces fixed to the fuselage and the anchor nuts fitted. The ply end rib of the radiator bay has now been fitted to the fuselage with the attach brackets for the alloy structure installed. The alloy ribs and support rods have all been refurbished and repaired as required and mounted to the main spar confirming the layout of the upper and lower skins and the associated leading edge sections. With this area all confirmed we can now continue with the engine control rod installation and the pneumatic and hydraulic plumbing that travels along the front of the spar and attaches to the radiator structure support rods.

3. We have completed all the work required on the flaps, which concluded with trimming the inboard ends of the inner sections to clear the fuselage and the application of the fabric. These are now all in silver and temporarily fitted to the wings.

4. We have sourced some new aileron actuating rods in a trade with our friends at Ferrymead, so we are now all complete on the aileron control system.

5. We have begun fabrication of the firewalls in the spar area and have cut the stainless sheet and overhauled some of the steel attachment hardware.
