Here is the June 2009 report on our work on the Mosquito.
We have made good progress on the engine control system with the arrival of the new machined support fittings. We have either overhauled or remanufactured the arms and ends for the torque tubes that run from the assembly that mounts in the cockpit out to the engines. These tubes need to be completed and fitted to the front of the spar before any of the plumbing can be installed. The fittings in the engine bay also carry the sprockets for the fuel shut off valves that are installed in the wheel well and the new bearings have been installed and the sprockets fitted. Like most of the systems, there are lots of little parts to work on.
The plumbing has progressed also and the pipework up to the spar from the bomb bay has been started.
We have sourced a rare drift sight and this is the final large piece we needed for the cockpit installation.
Things are moving well on the nacelle overhaul. We have assembled the rear bulkheads and fashioned up a support frame to assist with the assembly of the rear section. We have fabricated new ribs for the sides and are matching these to the original top and bottom stringers. The skeleton is taking shape and shortly we will be able to start skinning.
