Here is the February 2008 report on our work on the Mosquito.
1. Work has continued on the aileron rebuild program. The right unit is now finished and we are very pleased with the final result. The balance has come out well within limits and it is nice and true. It was missing the root end cover so we have fabricated a new one. With the first one out of the jig we have been able to begin on the other side. This one is in much worse condition and will need quite a few more new parts.
2. The wing is progressing well. First job was to seal the surface and sand ready for the fabric. The boys have made good progress on the bottom surface and are almost ready to lay it back down and start on the top. The bottom is much more complicated than the top due to the tank bays, flap and aileron bays.
3. We have begun fabricating the new firewalls from the samples we have. First job is to form the stiffeners and the special supports.
4. Work continues on the fuel tanks and we have finally managed to complete one of the outboard tanks..
5. We have stripped down one of the engines that arrived from Australia during the month in preparation for shipping. .
Should be finished the fabric next month and some more of the tanks.
