Here is the January/February 2010 report on our work on the Mosquito.

Work has continued on the engine installation and one job that we have started is the repair of the coolant header tank mount.  This is a rubber bonded vibration absorbing ring that connects the tank mount straps to the front of the engine.  We have removed all traces of the original rubber and had the face plates plated.  We have cut new sheet rubber to size and have bonded it to the original mount plates.

Work has continued on the tanks and this month progress can be seen on the long range oil tank. Tooling has been fabricated to produce the formed ends and the main body and these sections are now ready for assembly.

Work has also continued on the overhaul of some of the engine accessories and we have completed the vacuum pump and compressor.

The moulds for the canopy glazing are complete and the sections of glazing for the canopy have been produced and these are now ready for trimming and installation onto the canopy frame.

Work has progressed in the cockpit with the determination of the mounting location for various items on the R/H side wall.  Numerous nut ferrules have been installed along with the associated bonding.  We have assembled the blind flying panel mounts and set up the engine instrument panel isolation mounts and installed the engine instrument panel, centre pedestal and sub panels.  This has allowed us to install the ferrules for the top mounts for the eng panel, blind flying and smoothing valve.

We have made good progress on preparing the tail surfaces for paint and have painted the tailplane rear spar and fitted the elevator hinges to the spar. We have fabricated the required spacers for the hinges which includes mounting the elevator trim unit and centre hinge assembly.

We have been supplied with most of the custom made control cables and have installed the fuel shut off cables onto the front face of the spar.

We have sourced thermostats and fuel strainers along with some navigation lights from England.  We also found some of the rear exhaust assemblies on Ebay.
