Here is the January/February 2009 report on our work on the Mosquito.
Work has continued over the past couple of months on the two areas we started last year.
The right hand upper leading edge fairing that mounts forward of the radiator has been completed and the focus is now on the left hand unit. This one has also suffered a measure of handling damage and has had a hole punched through the top skin. We have developed a flush patch repair for the area and built a new spar for it as the attachment points had been wrenched badly at some stage.
The firewall reconstruction has progressed well and both main firewalls are now complete and fitted to the wing spars.
Various special bolts have been delivered and fitted to the landing gear “W” frame that sits below the firewalls. These frames have now been squared and aligned and the adjustments locked off and the attachment bolts safety’d. We only need to have the upper engine mount attach pins completed and we could fit the engine mount frames to the aircraft.
