Quite an exciting month for us with the arrival of the fuselage.

1. Work has solidly progressed on the tailwheel assembly and the associated accessories. We have had to dismantle a number of leg assys. to liberate sufficient good parts to make up one unit. We have cleaned and inspected all of the components and sent those metal parts that were in need of plating away. The tailwheel and the main castings from the leg have all been corrosion treated and the fork undercoated. We have re-anodised the main link fork and the whole assy. can be reassembled when the steel parts return from the plating shop.

2. We have begun work on a number of hydraulic actuators this month. The bomb door jacks x 4 and the tailwheel retract jack have all been disassembled and inspected. The bomb door jacks are in very poor condition and will require new outer tubes and re-chroming of the shafts. The seals can all be remade. The tailwheel jack is all reusable and we have sent the components away for plating.

3. We have begun work on the hydraulic non-return valves and the hydraulic emergency hand pump. These have all been disassembled and inspected and will go back together with new seals and re-plated components next month..

4. We have overhauled the remaining bomb and gun bay door hinges that have been supplied by Glyn to replace those missing form the project.

5. We have fabricated new control cables for the elevator control system using a combination of spliced and swaged ends.

6. The wiring continues and we have completed wiring up a couple of the junction boxes and most of the conduits that can be done on the bench.

7. We have begun installing the canon support beams and fittings under the cockpit floor to strengthen that area and allow us to attach our roll over frame to the fuse in that area.

8. We have sourced what we hope to be sufficient tubing to complete the full plumbing rebuild. This has arrived.

Woodwork

Big changes in the woodwork shop this month with the departure of the fuse.

In the final stages of this month the installation of the gun and bomb doors was completed and these have been delivered to the airport.

Also finished is the vertical stab and that has come down to us also.

The outside of the fuselage has been given a coat of epoxy sealant to seal and protect the wood and it looks great with the sheen the sealant offers.

Work has begun on the horizontal and progress made on the ribs and spar and have nearly completed the main assembly jig.
