Here is the March/April 2010 report on our work on the Mosquito.
We have been concentrating heavily on the control system installation these past couple of months and have basically completed all the primary controls and almost all the trim controls. We have constructed from new, numerous fairleads that have been installed in the nacelle area and in the bomb bay for the rudder, elevator and trim cables in those areas.
We have fitted up the aileron hinges to the wings and fabricated the required shims to align the bearings. We have fitted the ailerons to the wings and installed the servo tab operating mechanism. We installed the control stick temporarily to allow us to complete the aileron set up.
We installed the rear fuselage radio rack, and fitted the bulkhead fittings into the fuselage bulkheads for the long-range oil lines and the oil tank vent lines.
We have installed the tailwheel unit and begun the fabrication of the special hydraulic hose ends required at the retract ram.
We have completed the prep on the vertical and horizontal and the rudder and elevators, and these are now painted in the finish colors and the fin has been fitted to the rear fuse. We have completed the pitot head installation also.
In the cockpit area we have completed the assembly of the aileron trim system. We have check fitted the aileron torque shaft guards and made the studs needed to secure the guard. We have also installed the C of G datum marker peg on the L/H fuselage side panel. We have determined the mounting locations for the original Bendix Radio Equipment trays on top of the wing behind then cockpit and installed the threaded inserts and studs required. We have started laying out the pitot and static line runs through the cockpit and fabricated the clamp blocks as required.
